Abstract:Cross-national management research has become increasingly important given the rising proliferation and prominence of multinational firms. Preference for specific outcomes are important in expectancy approaches to motivation such knowledge can assist in job design and incentive systems and in curriculum planning. Managers from Australia, Canada,Singapore and the U.S. were examined. The findings supported no significant cultural differences in work-reward preference patterns,but in the future there is an increasing interest nationality and culture as factors in management practice and thinking.
