Abstract: | The consumer ethnocentrism concept is introduced and discussed. An instrument is developed to measure consumers' ethnocentric tendencies related to purchasing foreign- versus American-made products. Details of domain specification and item generation are analyzed. Measurement dimensions are introduced, and multiple items are generated to scale the dimensions. Questions of reliability assessment and construct validation are examined. Four separate validation studies were performed. Results are described and compared. The analysis supports the reliability of the consumer ethnocentrism concept. |
