Abstract: | The MIDEM meeting in Cannes disclosed the antagonism between American and European copyright systems. In the U.S. music is regarded as the frame of the movie. The American work-for-hire concept is unacceptable in Europe, where the moral rights provision aims at defending the integrity of soundtrack composer's work. This basic difference may prevent European-American cooperation unless some solution is found. |
