Abstract: | Companies seeking reliable and efficient communication systems may take hope from a recent advance in the industry of personal communication networks. Specific services have not yet been brought to an end by the three consortia with licences to run PCN (personal communication networks) but all promise pocket phones, and connection to the public telephone systems. Price will be an important factor in the success or failure of PCN. There is a push to change companies' perceptions of telecommunications. Instead of being seen as a useful business tool, it is very often viewed as an inevitable but costly overhead. Specific business services might be developed to include facilities hitherto provided only by automatic switchboards. |
