Abstract:The 21 years ago founded not-for-profit organization Council on Economic Priorities /CEP/ published a book in the USA, which has got an unprecedented success. In the book, whose title is "Shopping for a Better World: A Quick and Easy Guide to Socially Responsible Supermarket Shopping" 168 companies with 1,800 products are rated with checks or Xs in eleven socially conscious categories: charitable giving, community outreach, information disclosure, environmental impact, advancement of minorities and women, family benefits, and others. The main purpose of the book and the activity of the CEP is to orient consumers /first of all women/ in their decisions in favour of socially more responsible companies.
