Abstract:Environmental concerns are shaping development and marketing of a host of products. Astute firms are now targeting products to this growing segment of consumers. The environmentally conscious consumers of the 1990s are already seeking recycled paper products, cloth diapers, organic baby food, natural cosmetics, and nontoxic household cleaning products. These markets are shown, and further environmental trends are described, suggesting three key issues for future planning: smart packaging, life-cycle analysis, and health and safety.
