Abstract:In Denmark, hospital services' pricing (DRG) has been used since 1996 for an increasing number of purposes. This article presents the different institutional responses to an alien logic in a complex and professionally controlled area. Theoretically, it is drawn from Oliver's (1991) five generic responses to institutional pressures.
Based on interviews in four hospitals with 24 individuals of three groups of staff (i.e. doctors, nurses and administrators), diverse technical and material conditions seem to induce various reactions in different speciality areas (original in Danish).
