| Abstract: | The UK market of metal housewares is considered, including bakeware, metal tableware, pressure cookers, metal storage items and trays, metal kettles and teapots; traditional cookware is excluded /has been the subject of another recent article/. The market was worth GBP 283 million in 1989, compared to GBP 256 million in 1988. There is strong evidence of trading-up to better quality and better designed products. Over the past five-year period, the highest growth rates in constant terms were seen in 1987 and 1988. The markets for metal tableware and storage products are in decline. Kettles are enjoying a revival. Non-stick products continue to increase their share of the bakeware market. |
