Some of them have raised almost $500 million in public stocks sales. They have also signed drug-industry deals worth up to $1.7 billion.The drug companies rush to invest underscores the promise of genomics. Biochips are ushering in the industrial age of genomics along with other technologies. It is predicted that one or more of today's genomics leaders will have a market value topping $5 billion by 2005, $40 billion by 2010. |
