| Abstract: | Forecasting is visaged as the first priority item for management,the starting point for strategic planning. A wide look is taken across the range of established forecasting techniques appraising their advantages and shortcomings. The complete process of forecasting is described from aim setting through possible choices,data collection,possible errors and management to the application of the forecast. In particular,the use of forecasts in the planning of materials and distribution requirements is examined. |
