Abstract:Biotechnology is one of the most quickly developing industries. Tardiness of old resource-rich pharmaceutical giants has aided upstart biotech firms. But without astute management these firms couldn't survive. Most of the big drug companies are now pouring money into biotech research and many have gone shopping for acquisitions. Most have made licensing agreements with the smaller companies who couldn't afford to do their own manufacturing or marketing. The latest forms are joint ventures and partnerships. Competition in the industry is intense. üYhe prerequisites for success: to have the basic technology, clinical trial capability, regulatory capability, manufacturing and marketing.
