| Abstract: | In the paper, existing literature on private equity and venture capital is reviewed. The 1980s control activities ... have shown that the M & M (Modigliani & Miller) theorems are empirically incorrect (although logically sound). The evidence from LBOs, leveraged restructuring, venture capital firms and takeovers has demonstrated that leverage, payout policy and ownership structure do in fact affect organizational efficiency, cash flow, and therefore, value. |
