Abstract: | The objective of this article is to survey the use of off-balance sheet risk management instruments in New Zealand. We wish to determine if derivatives usage in a small economy such as new Zealand's is as widespread as in larger, more developed markets. The comparison is of interest as New Zealand is a relatively small deregulated economy with few barriers to trade and a high reliance on export revenues. Our approach is to survey a wide cross-section of both listed and non-listed firms. |
