Abstract:The author asks the question: how CPA/financial planners are helping their clients weather the first significant bear market in a decade. Most are meeting the challenge with equal parts of diversification, perspiration and inspiration. At the same time they are laying the groundwork so clients will be better prepared for the next market decline. To prepare for the inevitable rainy day, most CPA/financial planners advise clients to diversify their portfolios, cautioning them that markets can go down just as easily as they go up. But some clients, for various reasons, don't always follow that advice. The author asks another question: what to tell a client who has lost.
