| Abstract: | In final quarter of last year, total output - as measured by real GDP - fell only slightly, as expected. This was at least partly due to the facts that, in East Germany, it proved possible to maintain the level of output achieved in the summer, while in West Germany a number of special factors offset the sharp fall trend in industrial production to some extent. Falling output has been accompanied by an easing of inflation, a trend common to both parts of Germany. |
