Abstract:Television has revolutionised the transfer of information, ideas and events in a manner that is irreversible. But women watching the screen are not always comfortable with what they see. The programmes are seldom made by women or reflect women's experiences, needs and aspirations. And if and when they are, they are relegated to time slots based on a stereotypical notion of what women do and what they like.
