| Abstract: | The European Union (EU) is said to be the world's largest trading bloc. Its imports in 1996 are USD 1.8 trillion or 39% of the global total. The EU's trade with many countries is governed by association agreements of various types. In the article, also presented are trade policy instruments, the World Trade Organization (or WTO) negotiations and sectoral issues. |
