Abstract:The paper provides an overview of the number of European Accounting Association congresses, beginning from 1979. The author of the article states that his involvement with the European Accounting Association (EAA) began in March 1979, when he has attended the second annual congress, held in Koln. The author states that in most of the early congresses, it was a constant concern to the executive committee that comparatively few participants regularly came from France, Germany, Spain and Italy. At that time only 148 members from 16 countries were present, yet that represented an increase of about 40% over the number who had attended the inaugural congress in Paris.
