Abstract:This study analyzes a radio presenter's (hereafter as: prn's) speech in a local station in Murcia, Spain comparing it to the audience's (here as: aud's) linguistic behaviour as shown in the phone calls received during the programme. In addition, explored is also the data obtained in an interview with the radio presenter. The results show a radical divergence btw. the prn's speech and aud's one. These results are contrasted with Audience Design and Speaker Design theoretical tenets, using the explicit knowledge of the prn's attitudes and opinions to contrast theory and fact. It is concluded that neither of the models offer a fully satisfactory explanation of the found patterns etc.
