Abstract: | In this article the authors correct omission of authoritarian and mechanical features of scientific management (Taylorism) and the role of Fredric Winslow Taylor in consumer activism. The authors describe three major ways in which Taylor and his colleagues sought to amplify the consumersÂ’ ability to informed decisions-making. The paper also provides an explanation why the Taylorists decided to stay with the progressive party of the consumer activism movement in the 1930s when the employer hostility split the organization. |
