| Abstract: | Professional companies are conceptualized as federation of distinct practice areas using theories of organizational territoriality and corporate charters and it is argued that the chartering of a new practice is an inherently political act. Engagement in appropriate legitimacy-mobilizing efforts is required of new practice area founders in order to sustain diversification efforts. |
