| Abstract: | Not for nothing is Slovenia regarded as one of the more promising post-communist coutries in east and central Europe , in close pursuit of the "Visegrad Four" of Hungary, Poland and the Czech and Slovak republics. The most northern prosperous and western-orientated of the former Yugoslav republics, Slovenia always seemed to have more in common with its fellow former Habsburg neighbours to the north, and never quite fitted into the Yougolsav mould. |
