| Abstract: | A series of presidential and parliamentary elections is sweeping 15 post-communist countries. This gives a new perspective to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development's annual meeting in London, where members will focus on the movement towards democracy. The fact that elections are taking place is a testament to the growing strength of the concept of political pluralism which has been re-planted in most of central and east Europe and is gradually spreading in the former Soviet Union. |
