| Abstract: | Estonia is likely to weather the Russian crisis better than its Baltic neighbors as its transition to a market economy is more advanced. Few European countries, in the post-communist east or further west, will be able to escape at least some of the economic consequences of the recent financial and political turmoil in Russia. Some companies and banks will be affected because of their trade exposure, some because of their loans or investment, some because of the impact upon the scope for, and cost of, fund raising in the international capital markets. |
