Abstract:So far so good. Bulgarians have made a lot of progress in the three years since they voted for a new president and government, and the new pro-reform administration instituted an IMF-backed currency board system of monetary control as its first priority. This was the key move. The economy was quickly stabilised, thereby preparing the ground for the launch of the long-term reform programme the country so desperately needed.
