Abstract:Web-based applications can play an important role in new-product development (NPD) efforts of a large, geographically distributed product development project. These tools can provide effective media for communicating and diseminating information when projects involve numerous teams from various locations. These networked information technology (IT) applications can offer benefits in terms of project and process management. In this case study, the system used in the project serves primarily for diseminating information. File-transfer activities come in bursts around project milestones. Project milestones play essential role in coordinating the work of distributed team members.
