Abstract:Despite firms increasing investments in systems (e.g. ISO, IT or knowledge centres) for acquiring market information etc. during new product (hereafter as: n-p./n-ps.) development (NPD), few manage to benefit from the investments. This study suggests among others that firms rely on two distinct types of knowledge stocks – procedural and declarative memory – affecting n-p. short-term financial performance and creativity. The empirical study of NPD activities indicates that there is an inverted U-shaped relationship btw. procedural memory and product outcomes as well as a positive relationship btw. declarative memory and financial performance.
