Abstract: | This paper investigates the impact of innovation speed (hereafter as: inn-spd.) on managerial perceptions of positional advantage (here as: pos-adv.) and new product performance (as: n-p-perf). It also examines the moderating effect of marketplace characteristics. Based on a survey of 178 manufacturing firms, the results indicate that inn-spd. plays an important role directly and indirectly, through the creation of positions of advantage, in enhancing n-p-perf. In addition, the results show that the effects of inn-spd. on pos-adv. and n-p-perf. are contingent on the levels of market uncertainty, market potential, and competition. |
