Abstract: | Digital Equipment Corp. is changing the way it does business. It is scaling back its weighty staff, it is attempting to reduce the time of introducing new products, and it emphasizes products and services in ways as it has never been done. In an attempt to become every Management Information System /MIS/ professional's essential provider, DEC is overhauling its Network Application Support services, operating systems and pricing strategies. An estimation is given of revenue breakdown for DEC's 1991 fiscal year: the leader is Services with 38 percent. Network Application Support is designed to be the essential layer that connects a host of multivendor systems. All these changes are tactics in DEC's plan to be the software supplier of choice. |
