Abstract:This article focuses on the alloy metals silicon, manganese, chromium, nickel and molibdenum, whereby in some cases a distinction will be drawn between ores and foundry products. The major importance of alloy metal production in the USSR can be seen from the fact that in the 1980s the Soviet Union led the world in the production of ferrosilicon, manganese ore, manganese alloys and smelted nickel, took second place in chromium ore and chrome alloys.
