Abstract:The general trade-off pricing research problem is outlined. A definition is presented about the perfect trade-off situation. Pricing models are described. The data collection matrix is outlined. The methodology is illustrated by examples. Conjoint analysis and essential rank analysis are discussed as the two ways of calculating shares. Recent developments in the field of data collection and analysis are summarized. Situations not suitable for trade-off pricing research are described. The strengths and limitations of the technique are analyzed. The methodology is described as the most versatile and illuminating pricing research technique now available.
