Abstract:Based on an inductive qualitative investigation, this paper describes how a new industry (hereafter as: indy.) emerges in a declining and peripheral region dominated by struggling and traditional local indy. The model of regional industry (here as: reg-indy.) emergence is based on four main processes (here as: procs): framing procs, inter-industry relational procs movement mobilisation procs and dialectical procs, together shaping the emerging reg-indy. This exemplifies how new reg-indy. mobilization efforts offer an 'anti-thesis' to traditional indy., and how established indy. actors respond with competition to protect their business concepts. Moreover, it is illustrated how new indy. actors reframe their concepts to complement dominating traditional indy. and to overcome tensions and conflicts etc.
