Abstract:Using the hedonic technique to measure the amenity value (henceforth as: a-val./a-vals.) of the climate to German (here as: G.) households (as: h-hlds.), this study's evidence suggests that the a-val. of climate variables is capitalized mainly into hedonic house price differentials. Overall, G. h-hlds. seem to prefer warmer winters with less rainfall. Combining estimates of a-vals. with the predicted changes in climate associated with the IPCC's A2 emissions scenario, it is found that the overall impact of climate change on G. h-hlds., whilst negative, is typically not statistically different from zero etc.
