Abstract:This study explores Canadian public accountants in Canada in both Big 4 and non-Big 4 firms to define their attitude to Machiavellianism which means 'attending to one's interests much more than to others'. Results show that while there is no significant difference in Machiavellianism between public accountants in the upper-level positions (managers and partners), partners are remarkably less Machiavellian than seniors. The results are in accordance with previous studies on Canadian public accountants.
