Abstract:This article examines the differences between tourism success for a destination and destination management organization (DMO). Interview data from 25 Canadian destinations wass used to build a model that supports the existence of a relationship between the success of tourism destinations and DMOs in terms of respect to community relations, marketing, and economic indicators. Some of the factors exclusive to DMOs success were supplier relations, effective management, strategic planning, and quality personnel; while destination success depended on accessibility, attractive product and service offerings, and community support among others.
