Abstract:Sustainable competitive advantage (hereafter as: s-c-adv.) is a key concept in strategy practice and research. Previous research revealed that persistent superiour economic performance (here as: sup-perf.) is very rare. Also, theory predicts that Schumpeterian innovation (here as: S-inn./S-inns.) will erode s-c-adv. and thus prevent leading established firms attain persistent sup-perf. This study of Fortune Global 500 computer firms, active in a dynamic industry with widely acknowledged S-inns., found a relatively high ratio of firms achieving persistent sup-perf.
