Abstract:In markets with imperfect information and heterogeneity, the information technology (IT) affects the rate at which agents meet, which affects the distribution of production technologies (here as: prod-techs.) across firms. The adoption of novel IT may entail a revolution as to moving from an inefficient to an efficient equilibrium. Inefficient prod-techs. are swiftly removed even in sectors where the new IT has only recently been introduced. The results apply to consumer products, labour, intermediates etc.
