Abstract:Innovations in technology lead to changes in many aspects of social life, incl. employment. Innovations open, close and change opportunities. Are there differences in these changes btw. men and women? It is possible that technology might emphasize the already existing gender inequalities. However, computerization, which is less gender-specific, might be changing this. Two European datasets and standard wage equations are used to test the idea that women gain relative to men from computerization.
