Abstract:The purpose of this article is to examine the extent to which the prescriptive literature on recruitment advertising is matched by evidence of applicant preference and then to synthesize the material to produce a compilation of best practice. In relation to applicant preference the authors restrict their discussion to that of managers. In order to draw together the wide range of material covered in this article they use the AIDA model of the consumer decision process.
