Abstract:America can't return to the security of the 60s but job gains and rising wages show the worst is probably over. Ask Americans what worries them about the economy, and they'll tell you straight out: Almost everything. Unemployment. Inflation. Foreign competition. Somewhere along the way, they say, America has gotten off track. The hard numbers, though tell a much different story. The problem then? Job insecurity - and it's a big one. America's biggest companies are engaged in a brutal, wrenching transition toward a global, information-driven economy.
