Abstract:In 1991, Ameritech, a Midwest telecommunications company formed from five of the former Bell Telephone Companies, faced a daunting dual challenge: transforming the organization to a market-driven competitor, and simultaneously, installing a new CEO to replace retiring William Weiss.
