Abstract:Our inability to attract the finest brains into engineering and manufacturing is sometimes attributed to the 'oily rag' image that factories have in the minds of young people. Until we learn how to make our workplaces into the sort of environment that potential recruits find attractive and motivating places to bring their talents to bear, we should not expect a great change in the attitudes we face.
