Abstract: | In complex projects there may be a need for decentralisation of control in order to avoid the bureaucratic inefficiencies of central control. However, decentralisation does not dispense with the need to co-ordinate activities. This study shows how a UK construction company successfully implemented a balance between cellular autonomy and overall project risk management in a major road project. |
