| Abstract: | By the end of 1997, there are 2300 tanneries, more than 8200 shoemaking enterprises, more than 1700 leather clothing enterprises, over 1200 fur product enterprises, 523 leather suitcase enterprises and 1501 leather handbag enterprises in the leather industry. The total output value of the leather industry amounts to 152.5 billion yuan. The total sales income of 1997 reaches 135 billion yuan, with a yearly profit of 2.5 billion yuan. In recent years, our export of leathers tends to rise. However, the volume and the amount of money of export won't exceed those of import in a relatively long period of time. |
