Abstract: | This article focuses on both smaller and larger privately held firms involved in take-overs and examines whether acquiring and acquired companies have a specific pre-acquisition profile. The results indicate that in the pre-acquisition period both target and acquiring companies have a complementary financial profile. Both companies experience a growth-resource imbalance. It is found that bankruptcy is not the only solution for target firms for their high liquidity and solvency. |
