Abstract:This article discusses two disctinct yet complementary epistemological paths to knowledge development. The first one is holistic and field dependent, and builds on the concept of plausibility, and is associated with an entrepreneurial mindset. The second is object-oriented and builds on the concept of probability, and is here associated with a managerial mindset. The importance of the second one is emphasized in both managerial and knowledge management practices, therefore this article aims to restore the balance between these two paths.
