Abstract:This paper examines the idea of a liberating potential of cyborgization in the light of popular culture products that are related to organized work. Two different insights into the topic are considered: women as technology and technology as women. Based on three different cyborg examples, the analysis shows that cyborgization does not necessarily denote liberalization, and that stereotypes and strong plots survive. The paper indicates the relevance of popular culture models for work in contemporary homes and other workplaces.
