| Abstract: | A survey of empirical work on dynamic models of market performance in two categories, structural models that model how the market structure and performance change in response to entry, and reduced form models that describe change, regardless of how it is brought about. An example of each type of model is chosen from literature, and simulations are used to draw the implications of the estimated coefficients. Both models depict the extremely slow competitive process in the US economy. Twenty equations are given. The review also covers profits and entry, advertising and concentration. |
