| Abstract: | Changes in market concentration modelled in terms of long-run steady-state levels and the adjustment towards them. The speed of adjustment and the long-run levels of concentration vary across industries. The authors suggest that in the long run these are largely determined by a minimum efficient scale in relation to non-linear three-stage least squares estimates for the endogeneity of profits and advertising for 184 US industries in 1963 to 1967. Nine equations are given. |
