Abstract: | Acquisition as a way of company development is characterized. The difficulties of new product development, saturation of markets, reduction of the opportunities for rationalization are among the most important reasons for a takeover. A strategic approach to acquisitions is described. The strategic success factors are identified. The necessary steps to an improved position of the firm are overviewed. The employment of portfolio-management, structural change, know-how transfer and activity analysis is examined. The circular course of the acquisition process is sketched. The managerial tasks of an acquisition are listed and analyzed: 1. creating the prerequisites; 2. selecting the best candidates; 3. assessment of them etc. |
